AI-Powered Shipping | Yagena Makes Its Debut at the Yangtze River Delta Stage of “Innovators China”

Today, the Yangtze River Delta regional semifinals of the 11th “Innovators China” Future Intelligence SME Innovation and Entrepreneurship Competition were officially held in Nantong, Jiangsu Province. Co-hosted by the Nantong Municipal Bureau of Industry and Information Technology and the People’s Government of Chongchuan District, Nantong, the event aims to implement the national policies and initiatives for promoting the high-quality development of small and medium-sized enterprises and to drive innovation and growth in the future intelligence industry.

Hangzhou Yagena Technology Co., Ltd. entered the competition with its project, “An Integrated Smart Engine Room Solution for Operating Vessels,” competing alongside 28 other high‑quality innovative projects from the Yangtze River Delta region and showcasing the industrial application of AI technology in the field of ship intelligence.

Yagena’s entry addresses the industry’s most pressing challenges in the intelligent transformation of operating vessels. With the International Maritime Organization’s (IMO) new carbon‑reduction regulations now fully in force and domestic mandatory vessel‑monitoring policies steadily advancing, digital upgrading of ship engine‑room management has become an essential industry imperative. Yagena’s independently developed integrated smart engine‑room solution features a four‑layer architecture—“sensing and data acquisition, onboard edge computing, ship‑shore communication, and shore‑based intelligent platform”—covering five core modules: condition monitoring, AI‑driven fault diagnosis, energy‑efficiency and carbon‑management, ship‑shore collaboration, and cybersecurity, thereby enabling closed‑loop digital management across the vessel’s entire lifecycle.

The project’s core competitiveness stems from its robust technological foundation and strong industrialization capabilities. Its flagship product, the YGN9600 marine firewall, has obtained certification from all seven major international classification societies—CCS, ABS, BV, RINA, KR, RS, and NK—and is among the few in the industry that simultaneously meet both the ECS/RES mandatory requirements for maritime cybersecurity and the standards for industrial firewalls. Backed by experience delivering over 500 vessels, 35 invention patents, and more than 70 software copyrights, the solution has been successfully validated in a series of retrofit projects for operational ships undertaken by the Shanghai Salvage Bureau: fault‑prevention accuracy exceeds 90%, maintenance workload has been reduced by 30%, and overall fuel consumption has declined by approximately 5%.

Maritime intelligence represents a trillion-dollar blue‑ocean market. Yagena takes “AI + shipping” as its entry point, deeply integrating artificial intelligence into the traditional shipping industry—aligning with the competition’s theme of “AI‑driven integration in manufacturing.” From predictive equipment maintenance to energy‑efficiency optimization, and from ship‑shore collaboration to cybersecurity protection, Yagena is leveraging technological innovation to drive the shipping sector toward greater safety, efficiency, and sustainability.

Using competitions to drive innovation and leveraging innovation to boost industry. Yagena will harness the “Maker China” platform to further advance research and development of core technologies for ship intelligence, expand industry–finance collaboration and real-world applications, and help China’s shipping sector seize the initiative in the wave of digitalization and smart technology.
